Our Story

In a time of destruction, create something: a poem, a parade, a community, a school, a vow, a moral principle; one peaceful moment.

The worldwide Maker Movement is a burgeoning cultural trend that places immense value on an individual’s ability to be a sustainable creator and user of things & in most cases making their own products instead of purchasing brand name products that we all know.

In this culture, individuals who create things are called “Makers.” Makers come from all walks of life, with diverse skill sets, passions, and interests. The skills all Makers abundantly have in common are creativity, an interest in design and access to tools and raw materials that allow them to turn concepts into productive reality.

While most Makers are hobbyists, entrepreneurs or small manufacturers, the Maker Movement is International, promoted by magazines, conventions, TV channels, online portals and social media.

At Makers Base, supporting South African Makers means that you care about your fellow South African Maker communities.

You’ll be able to put money back into your Maker community and the many Makers who call it home.

South African Makers don’t always have the funds to “go big or go home”. By investing in your Maker community you are supporting and respecting your fellow Makers.

There is a plethora of Local Makers who bring their personal experiences, skills, and creativity to their products. And believe me, it might just make your day!

Happy Making from one Maker to another!
